Recently, an online news portal named DailyNewsbd, forgetting the ethics of journalism, is spreading extremely ugly and baseless propaganda against a responsible journalist from Demra, a traditional industrial area of the capital Dhaka, through social media and other means, out of greed for money. In that propaganda, he has been accused of being involved in extortion, drug trafficking and prostitution.
In reality, he has been working against these anti-social and criminal activities for a long time.
What is more surprising is that false information has also been spread about his family life. A propaganda report claims that he has been married four times, while in fact he has only had one legal marriage. The Journalists’ Unity Council has commented that such interference in personal life is a gross violation of journalistic ethics and professional standards.
The organization said, “Such false news and propaganda are tarnishing the journalistic community. We demand legal action against those who are trying to assassinate journalists for personal hatred and political purposes.”
The Journalists’ Unity Council has strongly condemned and protested this incident, calling it a “worst example of red journalism” and calling for immediate action against those involved.
