News Desk | Dhaka
Today, Friday (January 30, 2026) at 3 pm, a huge election rally was organized by the Islami Andolan Bangladesh Dhaka-5 Election Steering Committee at Demra Sarulia Bazar in the capital.
The rally was chaired by Haji Md. Ibrahim, the candidate with the hand fan symbol for Dhaka-5 constituency, and Professor Ashraf Ali Akon, a member of the presidium of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest.
In his speech as the chief guest, Professor Ashraf Ali Akon said that there is no alternative to the hand fan symbol to protect the rights of the common people and build effective resistance against corruption. He called on the honest, competent and idealistic candidate Haji Md. Ibrahim to vote with the hand fan to transform the neglected towns of Demra, Jatrabari and Kadamtali into modern and justice-based areas.
In his speech as the president, Haji Md. Ibrahim, the candidate of Hatpakha, said that although many representatives have been elected in 12 elections in the last 54 years, there has been no real change in the fate of the people of Demra, Jatrabari and Kadamtali. Extortion, oppression, looting and land grabbing have made the lives of the people of this region unbearable. Therefore, he called for voting in Hatpakha for not just a change of face but a fundamental change in policies and ideology.
He also said that if elected, extortion in this region will be buried forever. Landlords will not have to pay any contribution for the construction of houses, the culture of bribery will be stopped in government offices. Effective initiatives will be taken to resolve the gas crisis, entrepreneurship training centers and skill development centers will be established for the employment of the youth, development projects for women and the elderly, and 100% quality will be ensured in infrastructure development. He also pledged to establish good governance by freeing the administration from party corruption.
He said, “I am your son Ibrahim. With your love and trust, I have worked with honesty, transparency and accountability as a two-time elected councilor in Ward No. 67 of Dhaka South City Corporation. This time, with your prayers, support and advice, I will build an extortion and corruption-free, safe, modern and humane Dhaka-5, InshaAllah.” Dhaka Divisional Organizing Secretary Mufti Delwar Hossain Saki, Convener of the Dhaka-5 Constituency Election Management Committee Alhaj Altaf Hossain, Vice-President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Alhaj MH Mostafa, Organizing Secretary KM Shariatullah, Student and Youth Affairs Secretary Advocate Monir Hossain and local leaders were also present at the public meeting.
