Journalists’ Unity Council (SAOP) Emerges to Stand by Persecuted Journalists in Bangladesh

**Editorial Desk:** The Journalists’ Unity Council (SAOP), an organization formed to symbolize the unity of journalists in the country and protect their professional interests, has announced its central committee today. This will, InshaAllah, stand as a strong pillar for the journalists of Bangladesh.

This information was announced in a press release signed by Fahad, the founding head and chairman of the organization, and Md. Asifuzzaman Asif, the chief advisor.

The declared committee includes experienced and young representatives from various levels of journalists. The committee includes positions such as President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Organizing Secretary, as well as Health, Literature, Human Rights, Environment, Social Welfare, Sports, Culture, Religious, and Administrative Affairs Secretaries.

Among the important office bearers are:

* President: Md. Kamrul Hasan
* General Secretary: Md. Shahabuddin
* Joint General Secretary: Md. Shahjahan Biplobi Suman
* Joint General Secretary: Md. Abbas Uddin
* Assistant Joint General Secretary: Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Mosleheuddin, Ariful Islam, Shakil Rana
* Organizing Secretary: Muhammad Rauful Barqat Badhan Dhali
* Assistant Organizing Secretaries: Zahidul Islam Sunny, Sajjad Mahmud Monir, Toufikur Rahman Taher, Saiful Islam, Mahbub Ahmed, Md. Zaynal Abedin
* Office Secretary: Syed Mohammad Kaysar
* Assistant Office Secretaries: Md. Abu Yusuf Uddayan, Noyon Roy, Abu Bakar Siddique Khan

The subject-based secretaries include:

* Labor and Manpower Affairs Secretary: Abdul Matin Muni
* Industry and Commerce Affairs Secretary: Md. Rafiqul Islam Rafiq
* Health Affairs Secretary: Md. Ziaur Rahman
* Literature Affairs Secretary: Sakib Ahsan
* Human Rights Affairs Secretary: Kazi Mostak Ahmed
* Administration Affairs Secretary: Abu Russel Suman

* Sports Affairs Secretary: Md. Dipu Ahmmed

In addition, several others have been given responsibilities as assistant secretaries and deputy secretaries.

The press release stated that the Journalists’ Unity Council will play an effective role in uniting the journalist community, protecting the freedom of the media, protecting the rights of journalists, and fulfilling social responsibility, which will highlight important aspects of the state.

After the committee announcement, Fahad, the founding chairman of the organization, said, “We believe that the unity of journalists can create a strong position in favor of truth and justice in society. This will play an effective role in the security of life and property of the general public of the state. The new central committee will work for the welfare of the journalist community and play a leading role in protecting the dignity of the media.” At the same time, it will work as a “symbol of strength for unity, cooperation, and rights, becoming the voice and heartbeat of journalists.”

It is noteworthy that the Journalists’ Unity Council (SAOP) has been carrying out various activities to protect the interests of journalists in the country since its inception. It is expected that the activities of the organization will become more extensive and dynamic through the new central committee, InshaAllah.
