Savar correspondent: Students and locals of the institution have formed a human chain and held a protest march in Ashulia, Savar, to protest the seizure of land at Darul Ihsan Trust and the arrest of managing trustee Maruf Hossain Mukul in a false case, and to demand his release.

They held a human chain program in front of the Tahfizul Quranul Karim Fazil Madrasa run by Darul Ihsan Trust in Sreepur area of ​​Ashulia on Dhaka-Aricha highway on Friday (January 24). More than a thousand students, teachers, employees of the institution and local residents participated in the program.

At this time, senior teacher of the institution, Fazal Uddin Shibli, who was present at the human chain, said, “Our institution has been conducting educational activities with great reputation since 1992. Many teachers and students of our institution have been injured by participating in the anti-discrimination student movement. And in the case of killing students and the public during that anti-discrimination student movement, our institution’s elder Helal Sir and trustee board member Maruf Hossain Mukul, three people have been falsely accused. Which is both unbelievable and painful for us. Our Helal Sir is a seventy-year-old old man. He cannot even walk alone. How did he shoot and kill people there? And their house is in Ashulia, so how did they become accused in the Uttara incident in the capital? We strongly protest the incident and draw the attention of the Chief Advisor and Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul Sir to the unconditional release of our trustee member Mukul Sir and the withdrawal of the conspiracy case against Helal Sir very soon.” Otherwise, we will be forced to call for a bigger movement.

The resident director and secretary of the organization, Shaykh Helal Ahmed Kabir, said, “I have been serving this organization for 33 years. I am currently over 70 years old. I cannot even walk properly. Yesterday, I suddenly learned that my managing trustees, Maruf Hossain Mukul and Harun Or Rashid, along with me, have been accused in a case filed at the capital’s Uttara police station. It is said that I shot and killed people. Do you think that I can do such a heinous act? I cannot even walk without the help of others, how can I kill people there? And my home is in Ashulia, how can I be accused in the Uttara incident? I demand the government to withdraw such a conspiracy case.”

It is worth mentioning that in a case (case number 18) filed with the capital’s Uttara West Police Station on December 9 last year in connection with the killing of students and the public during the anti-discrimination student movement, Darul Ihsan Trust’s Managing Trustee Maruf Hossain Mukul was named as accused number 178, the institution’s Resident Director and Secretary Shaykh Helal Ahmed Kabir as accused number 179, and board member Harun Or Rashid as accused number 180. And in that case, Maruf Hossain Mukul was arrested from Ashulia area on January 22.
