After 10 years, Vijay Mahmud’s free Quran education session

S. Hussain Mollah — On Saturday, May 11, Light House Career College, located in Uttara of the capital, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the “Free Quran Education Session” organized by Vijay Mahmud.
According to the news, the Quran learning session was launched by Vijay Mahmud on February 1, 2014 as a completely private initiative. After a long period of 10 years, since the month of March, the content of this organization has been published and promoted in various media and social media, and it has become visible to the country and the nation.
It has been reported that free Quran education for men and women of all ages from able-bodied children to the institution is also given attractive prizes to the participants of the examination every month. Further training is given in Quran recitation, Islamic music and Hamd-Naat. It is known about the future plans, Free Hefz Madrasa will be established in different districts across the country and branches will be opened in different places in the capital Dhaka. By doing this, the children of poor families in different districts across the country will be able to learn the Qur’an without interruption and memorize it. Moreover, the arrangement is also being made that any person worldwide can easily learn the Quran online at home.
At the beginning of the program, Quran Khatam was recited first by all the students. Then the recitation of the Qur’an continues after the break of Asr prayer. The students of the institution performed Islamic music periodically. Then Hafez Maulana Abdul Momin, Principal of Al-Hamad Academy gave a welcome speech. Then Bijay Mahmood, the founder of the said institution, presented the history of the incident of launching his institution. He said the structure and development plan of the organization and wished for blessings from all. Then Imam Maqsudur Rahman of Uttara Sector 7 Park Mosque and Imam Hafez Maulana Mufti Abdul Baset of Uttara Sector 7 Northern Tech Mosque gave speeches one by one about the history and greatness of the Holy Quran and the need and importance of reading the Quran. At the end, the program was concluded by offering prayers and blessing. This event starts from 3.30 pm and ends before Maghrib.
