Savar Correspondent : General students and teachers held a student assembly and rally on behalf of Palestine at Jahangirnagar University.

This student rally was held on Tuesday at three o’clock in the premises of Shaheed Minar of the university. At the end of the assembly, a rally with about four hundred ordinary students took out from Shaheed Minar. The rally circumambulated various important roads of the university and ended at Shaheed Minar.

During this time, ordinary students raised various demands. That is to stop the genocide in Gaza immediately. Palestine should be recognized as an independent and sovereign state and their lost land should be returned. Zionist Israel must be prosecuted and punished for its complicity in genocide. Public opinion at the international level must be created in favor of taking effective action in the Security Council. He invited all students, teachers and civil society irrespective of party affiliation to join the rally.

Bin-Yamin Molla, Central President of Bangladesh Students’ Rights Council, agreed with this movement and said, “They have ammunition, but Muslims have faith, Muslims never back down.” The accidental death of Iran’s president is no ordinary death. He was killed in a planned manner. This killing was done to break the unity of Muslims. We condemn this attack.

Gholam Rabbani, professor of the history department, said, “Seeing the death of every child in Palestine, I feel like it is my child.” The purpose of the killing that is going on in Palestine today is to occupy the entire land of Palestine. The United States has twice vetoed security issues for ceasefires at the United Nations recently. This proves that the United States is currently the biggest terrorist state. Even during our liberation war, they vetoed in favor of Pakistan. So the people of Bangladesh are in favor of Palestine and are agitating for their independent state.

Professor of philosophy. Kamrul Ahsan supported this movement and said that my previous speakers have given some information. Millions of people have become refugees from the Palestinian territories. They are oppressed today. Israeli soldiers are continuously attacking innocent women and children. This gathering of common students of Jahangirnagar University today is a reflection of the movement of students that is developing all over the world. Therefore, I will continue to concentrate on the movement for Palestine in the future.

Saifullah Saad, a student of Bangla Department, said in the gathering, Muslim people around the world can no longer tolerate Israel’s one-eyed policy. So teachers, students all over the world are agitating for Palestine. As a result, their studentship is also being cancelled. I am glad that the common students of Jabi have joined this movement. I am concentrating on this movement of independent Palestine.

Sohagi Samia, a student of drama and theater department, said, we support Palestine. This movement belongs to everyone irrespective of caste and religion. People all over the world are taking their side. They are arresting those who are agitating just like they are arresting small children. They are afraid of you. This is the proof that they are doing wrong. 33 of the 36 hospitals in Palestine have been demolished. It is very inhuman torture.

About four hundred students attended the rally. During this time, the students chanted slogans like stop the genocide of Palestine, we want an independent Palestinian state. University teachers and general students were concentrated in the rally.

All the speakers at the gathering also demanded to create public opinion in the international arena to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza, to prosecute the Israeli genocide, to take effective measures in the United Nations Security Council.
