The defamation case against Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, a member of the BNP standing committee in Narail, was dismissed.

Ujjwal Roy, District Representative from Narail:Defamation case filed against Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in Narail dismissed The court has dismissed the defamation case filed by a person named Ashiq Billah of Jadavpur village of Kalia upazila of Narail against BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. Ujjal Roy, district representative from Narail said that on Wednesday (October 16) at noon, Judge Mehdi Hasan of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Narail gave this order. Gayeshwar Chandra Roy’s lawyer and former district BNP president Iqbal Hossain Shikder confirmed this information.
In the case, the plaintiff claimed that on December 25, 2015, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy made a derogatory statement about martyred intellectuals in a discussion meeting of BNP in Dhaka. Later it was circulated in various print and electronic media. Two days after the incident i.e. on December 27, sitting in the Narail district Awami League office, Ashiq Billah, the plaintiff in the case, and the witnesses were extremely angry after reading the news. They were defamed to the tune of one crore rupees.
Later, Ashiq Billah became the plaintiff in this incident and filed a defamation case in the name of Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in Narail Sadar Amli Court on December 29 of the same year. The court took note of this and ordered Narail Sadar police station to investigate. The police filed a report on October 29, 2016 accusing Gayeshwar in the court. However, the court dismissed the case today as the plaintiff did not appear in the court for a long time.
According to the lawyers and party sources of the case, earlier two cases filed against Khaleda Zia and one against Tareq Zia were dismissed in Narail.
